Uva PC election - complaints rise to 224

Some 224 election violation complaints have been reported, thus war, with regard to the Uva Provincial Council election, Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) says.
Meanwhile, it was reported, a UPFA election centre of PC candidate Udara Soysa was attacked by a group of unidentified persons in Dodangahawatta, Buttala, in the wee hours of this morning. According to the police, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, so far.
Among the 224 complaints, some 166 complaints were reported from Moneragala district while 46 complaints were reported from Badulla. There were also 12 cases common to both districts.
“In the last few days there has been a spike in election related violence in Moneragala and the widespread use of firearms is a great concern. CaFFE has written to the commissioner of elections and the IGP to take immediate steps on this matter,” it says.
