Next Independence Day Celebrations in Hambantota

The government says that the 67th National Independence Day Celebrations will be held at the Weeraketiya Central College in Hambantota, next year.
According to the Government Information Department, this was revealed at a discussion held, presided by Prime Minister D.M.Jayaratna with the participation of Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs W.D.J.Seneviorathna at Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday (10).
This being the first occasion an Independence Day Celebration is to be held in the Hambantota District, the celebrations will include many programmes such as religious activities, provincial developments, march past, cultural pageants etc.
During the initial discussion, Minister Senevirathna instructed relevant officials to allocate each work pertaining to road development, establishing alternate roads, decorating the stage and the premises, providing water and electricity to separate officers.
Public Administration and Home Affairs Deputy Minister Wijaya Dahanayake, Water Supply and Drainage Deputy Minister Nirupama Rajapaksa, Hambantota District MP V.K.Indika, Central Province MP Anuradha Jayarathna, Prime Minister’s Secretary S.A. marasekera, Public Administration and Home Affairs Secretary P.B.Abeykoon were present at the discussion.
