Wasp attack leaves 23 hospitalised

Over 20 persons were hospitalised after they were attacked by a swarm of wasps while clearing a public cemetery in the 20 Coloniya area in Hambantota today.
Police said that around 23 individuals including 9 women were among those attacked by wasps and that they have been admitted to the Hambantota Hospital for treatment.
A wasp nest located in one of the trees at the cemetery had been disturbed during the clearing process leading to the attack, police said.
