Two Indians arrested with gold worth Rs.2m in rectum

Two Indian nationals have been arrested at the Katunayake International Airport for attempting to smuggle gold out of the country by concealing it in their rectal cavities, Sri Lanka customs said.
The suspects had reportedly arrived at the airport at around 1.00am today to board a flight (UL172) to Bangalore, India.
However, they were arrested and searched by Customs officials, acting on information received. It was then uncovered that the Indian nationals were concealing two pieces of gold, weighing 400g and worth around Rs 2 million, in their rectal cavities.
The gold has been confiscated while the suspects have been released after paying a fine of Rs 10,000.
