Anura Yapa appointed SLFP General Secretary

Anura Priyadarshana Yapa has been appointed as the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said today.

 

Yapa, who is the Minister of Petroleum Industries, was appointed top the post in place of Maithripala Sirisena who was stripped of his ministerial portfolio and party membership after defecting from the government.

 

Sirisena has announced that he would contest the forthcoming Presidential Election as the Common Opposition Candidate.

 

Meanwhile Deputy Minister of Lands and Land Development Siripala Gamlath has been appointed as the SLFP organiser for the Polonnaruwa District and electorate, the post previously held by Maithripala Sirisena.
