A police constable (PC) has been arrested on charges of assaulting and injuring his wife, who is a woman police constable (WPC), in the Akurangoda area in Mahawela.
The assault victim has been admitted to the Matale Hospital for treatment, police said.
Mahawela Police are conducting an investigation into the incident, which had taken place over a family dispute.
