Due to the atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka the possibility for rain and the strong winds during thunder showers is very high, the Met. Dept. forecasts.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern, Central and Uva provinces and in the Hambantota district.
Showers or thundershowers with strong lightning activities will occur over most parts of the country and the sea areas off North and East coasts. Heavy showers (about 100mm) are also likely at some places, according to the Met. Department.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.
