Shots fired at Lakshman Wendaruwa’s home; 1 injured

Unknown gunmen have opened fire at a residence in Kurunegala belonging to North Western Provincial Council member Lakshman Wendaruwa, who yesterday defected from the government and pledged support to the Common Candidate.

 

Police Spokesman’s Office said the shooting had occurred at around 1150pm last night and that one of the bullets had hit a security guard, who has been admitted to the Kurunegala Hospital for treatment.

 

Incidentally the shooting took place just hours after the UPFA North Western Provincial Council member announced his decision to support the Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena at the upcoming Presidential Election.
