
Sri Lanka military spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya today refuted incorrect rumours of stones pelted into Army camps in the Northern region and stressed that no such incidents have occurred in the post-election period.
Rumours alleging such incidents had been spreading through social media and other modes since Friday (9), after the results of the Presidential Election was announced.
In a press release, Brig. Wanigasooriya, the Director of the Defence Ministry’s Media Centre, refuted the allegation as baseless.
The press release further said that the situation in the Northern and Eastern regions are peaceful and that there is no room for anyone to be involved in acts of sabotage.
