PICTURES: Police open Rakna Lanka armory at BMICH

Police today opened an armory belonging to private security firm ‘Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Limited (RALL)’ which was discovered within the premises of the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).

 

The Police Spokesman’s Office said that the armory where a large number of automatic rifles and other firearms have been stored was opened by police this morning and that investigations are ongoing.

 

Police are investigating whether the armory contains any illegal firearms and if proper approval has been obtained to store weapons at the location.

 

Rakna Lanka is listed as a state security arm which provides protection to several state entities.
