SriLankan Airlines cabin crew member dies, 3 injured in Doha

A SriLankan Airlines female cabin crew member succumbed to injuries while 3 others were wounded when a vehicle on desert safari met with an accident in Doha, Qatar.

According to reports, 6 passengers were onboard the SUV when it had toppled during the desert safari yesterday (30).

Several SriLankan Airlines cabin crew members, who were scheduled to fly back to Sri Lanka via flight UL 218 last night, were among the passengers of the vehicle.

In a statement issued today, SriLankan Airlines said it has been informed of a tragic road accident in Doha, Qatar this evening involving four of its cabin crew members. “One crew member is confirmed as having succumbed to her injuries while three others have been hospitalised and are reported to be in a stable condition.”

SriLankan Airlines CEO, Kapila Chandrasena said “we are shocked and deeply saddened by this news, and our first priority has been to be in touch with the families of those involved in this tragic accident and to provide them with all the necessary care and assistance in their hour of grief”.
