Nelum Pokuna Mw. renamed as Dr. Ananda Coomaraswamy Mw.

The Nelum Pokuna Mawatha in Colombo 07 was named again as Dr.Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
A part of Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha was named Nelum Pokuna Mawatha on December 15, 2011 following the opening of the Nelum Pokuna Performing Arts Theatre.
Many people expressed displeasure over the name change of the road as Nelum Pokuna Mawatha as it was named in memory of Sri Lankan-born art historian Ananda Coomaraswamy, a well-known philosopher and writer on visual arts, aesthetics, literature and language who brought fame to Sri Lanka.
Ministers Karu Jayasuriya, Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, Sujeewa Senasinha, D.M.Swaminathan, Nandimithra Ekanayake were among those present.
