It is a moot point to me as to why the Supreme Court needed to put off the petition, which was filed by former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa in a bid to seek an interim order to prevent his arrest, till next October, General Secretary of the Democratic Left Front, Vasudeva Nanayakkara said.
“It is highly questionable as to why the court wanted to put-off the case till October,” he said. The observation was made at a press conference held at the Abeyarama Temple in Narahenpita on Wednesday (20) morning.
Nanayakkara also went on to say that they would do their level best to ensure the victory of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the forthcoming election.
“Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe should take the responsibility for the controversial treasury bond issue as CB Governor Arjuna Mahendran was appointed to the position upon a directive by him (PM),” Nanayakkara added.
