(UPDATE) A special parliamentary session to approve the civil society representatives of the Constitutional Council will be held next Wednesday (June 03), Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody said.
Earlier, the Government Information Department had reported that the date for the Special Parliamentary session will be announced today (27).
The appointment of three members from civil society for the Constitutional
Council (CC) will be approved during the session, the GID added.
The 10-member constitutional council, to re-establish and make appointments to the independent commissions to oversee various areas of governance, will comprise of seven members of parliament and three independent members.
