Susil facing legal action over Rs 142.5 million owed to SLTB

Sri Lanka’s Cabinet of Ministers have decided to file legal action against UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha due to the failure to pay Rs 142.5 million owed to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB), for buses used during the presidential election.

The new government had continuously accused the former government under Mahinda Rajapaksa for the non-payment of monies due for the SLTB buses used for transportation needs during the Presidential Election.

Accordingly the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) has been notified to pay the sum of Rs 142.5 million, owed to the SLTB.

Speaking at a press briefing in Colombo today, Cabinet Spokesman Dr Rajitha Senaratne said that a decision has been taken to file legal action as the sum has not been paid so far.

Therefore the Cabinet has decided to instigate legal action against the General Secretary of the party, Susil Premajayantha, regarding the matter.
