SC wants intelligence report on Mahinda’s security

The Supreme Court on Monday (10) directed the Attorney General’s Department to obtain an intelligence report to reveal on which basis security has been provided to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

 


The directive was made when a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition, which has been filed seeking a directive to reduce the security provided to the former President, was taken up for hearing. 

 


The State Counsel apprised the SC that current security has been provided to the former President after considering government intelligence reports.

 


The petition was by Attorney-at-Law Senaka Perera, who is named in the National List of the Nava Sama Samaja Pakshaya (New Equal Society Party), and states that the security provided to the ex-President was unfair towards the other candidates.
