CID takes over probe into Kotadeniyawa toddler’s murder

Investigations into the recent murder of a 5-year-old girl in Kotadeniyawa have been handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) with immediate effect, police said.

 

Seya Sadewmi was found sexually abused and strangled to death on Sunday (13), a day after she was reported missing. 

 

Kotadeniyawa Police had launched an investigation into the murder while some physical evidence had been discovered.

 

However, so far police have been unable to find any positive clues linking the murder to any suspects and therefore the Inspector General of Police (IGP) N.K. Illangakoon has ordered the CID to take over the case.
