DNA found on Kotadeniyawa child doesn’t match with first two suspects: CID

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (01) requested the Minuwangoda Magistrate to drop charges against the two suspects who had been arrested in the first place in connection with rape and murder of the five-year-old child in Kotadeniyawa.

 


The CID informed the Magistrate that DNA found on the child does not match with these suspects.

 


The CID on 23 September however arrested an individual known as ‘Kondaya’ who is said to be the main suspect in the case. His DNA report has not yet been issued.

 


The child was found strangled to death on September 13. She was reported missing from her home at Kotadeniyawa in Divulapitiya on the previous day.
