The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (05) apprised the Court that the elder brother of Kondaya has confessed to the murder and sexual assault on five-year-old child in Karandeniya.
The suspect, who was the elder brother of Konadaya, was arrested over the murder of Seya Sadewmi, on October 3.
Ada Derana reporter said that the Minuwangoda Magistrate has also remanded Kondaya till October 19.
Meanwhile, IGP N. K. Illangakoon has ordered an investigation into the alleged assault on two suspects including the 17-year-old schoolboy who were earlier taken into custody and later released in connection with incident.
The investigation prompted after a complaint was lodged by the teenager and the 31-year-old man alleging that the police had severely assaulted them while they were under interrogation.
The investigation is being carried out under directions from Western Province Senior DIG Pujith Jayasundara, the police said.
Seya Sadewmi was found strangled to death on September 13 while she was reported missing from her home at Kotadeniyawa in Divulapitiya on the previous day.
