19 Indian fishermen arrested by SL navy

Nineteen fishermen from Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu were detained today by the Sri Lankan Navy on charges of violating the International Maritime Boundary Line.
Their two boats were also seized by the navy personnel with assistance from the Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG), navy spokesman Commander Indika de Silva said.
He said that the fishermen were arrested in Sri Lankan waters off Point Pedro and that they will be handed over to the KKS Fisheries authorities.
Ten of the fishermen belonged to Akkaraipettai and the rest were from Keechankuppam, Indian media reported.
The navy had on September 22 arrested 15 fishermen from this district for allegedly fishing in Lankan waters.
