
At least 35 passengers were wounded following a traffic collision involving a private bus and a lorry in the Inamaluwa area in Dambulla this morning.
Police said that 25 of the injured persons have been admitted to the Dambulla Base Hospital while the rest had sustained only minor injuries.
A bus traveling from Siripura, Polonnaruwa to Colombo had crashed into the back of a lorry transporting cement bags to Colombo at around 2.45am today, according to Sigiriya Police.
The driver of the bus claims that the lorry was halted without any lights while the lorry driver says he was checking the vehicle’s tires.
Sigiriya Police is conducting an investigation.
