Six out of eight suspects who were arrested in connection with the murder of a Karate champion and an owner of a nightclub in Anuradapura, have been remanded till November 09 by the Anuradhapura Magistrate today.

The other two suspects have been detained for further questioning, Ada Derana reporter said.

The preliminary investigations into the murder have disclosed that a personal dispute between the suspects and the nightclub owner had led to the incident, according to the police.

The incident had occurred at the night club down Muditha Street in Anuradhapura at around 11.45 on Sunday.

The group of about 20 masked men who entered the night club had killed its owner by assaulting him with clubs and sharp objects.

The 57-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries after admitting to the Anuradhapura Teaching hospital. Three employees at the night club have also been admitted to the same hospital, following the attack, the police added.

The Anuradapura police are conducting further investigations.
