CTSU vows to stage a protest once again

The Ceylon Teachers Service Union (CTSU) today vowed to stage a protest once again opposite the Education Ministry in Isurupaya over an alleged move to limit the number of successful candidates passed at Grade five scholarship exam.

 


The CTSU on November 18 also organized a protest opposite the Education Ministry against the decision to limit the number of successful candidates.

 


General Secretary of the CTSU Mahinda Jayasinghe alleged that some 51,000 students had passed the Grade five scholarship exam last year, but this year the number had been reduced to 31,000.

 


He alleged that the Education Ministry has taken a decision to reduce the number by 19,000 this year.

 


“We have decided to stage the protest since the ministry has failed to honour our promise. They vowed to provide a solution within two weeks earlier,” Jayasinghe added.
