
Two Pakistani nationals have been arrested for allegedly robbing gold jewellery and gems worth around Rs 11 million from a store in Kollupitiya.
Police said that the suspects had entered the gem and jewellery store last evening and used a liquid substance to render the owner of the shop unconscious before robbing the store.
The stolen items are estimated to be worth around Rs 11 million.
Acting on a complaint lodged over the incident, Kollupitiya Police conducted investigations and arrested the two suspects at two lodges in the area.
The stolen gems and jewellery as well as 3,650 US dollars were found in the possession of the arrested suspects, who are to be produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today.
