
Trade union representatives of Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) employees, who launched a protest movement based on several demands, have given authorities till 2.00pm today to reach a decision before resorting to strike action.
The Sri Lanka Free Workers’ Union, National Workers’ Union and Inter Workers’ Union launched a joint protest movement this morning based on 6 demands.
The workers had previously warned that they would resort to strike action if their demands are not met before 12 noon. However, following discussion held with the Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Executive Director of the airport, the trade union representatives had agreed to extend the time period to 2.00pm.
