Right to Information Bill to Parliament in January

The Right to Information Bill (RTI) will be presented to the Parliament in January, the Government Information Department announced today.
Earlier, Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe informed the Parliament that the Cabinet has approved the proposed RTI.
The RTI will be an act provide for the right to information; specify grounds on which access may be denied.
The establishment of the Right to Information Commission; the appointment of Information Officers; setting out the procedure for obtaining official information and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto will be done later.
