Asela Sampath arrested for ‘behaving suspiciously’

The Chairman of the All-Island Canteen Owners’ Association, Asela Sampath, and his wife have been arrested by the Cinnamon Garden police today.


Police Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara told Ada Derana that Asela Sampath, and the wife were arrested on the charges of behaving suspiciously near the house of President Maithripala Sirisena.


However, Asela Sampath has claimed that he just needed to have a discussion with the President, after having no response from the authorities to discuss the issues with respect to his industry, it was reported.
