Govt. attempts to replace CEPA with ETCA- Muzammil

The country’s IT industry will be in jeopardy if the proposed Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) is signed with India, the National Freedom Front (NFF) stressed on Sunday (24).
Spokesman of the NFF Mohammed Muzammil made the observation at a press conference held in Colombo this afternoon.
Muzammil pointed out that the Government attempts to replace the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the ETCA.
“Just the name has been changed,” said Muzammil.
Muzammil also predicted that at least some 75,000 IT employees will lost their jobs here if the proposed pact is signed. “Not only the IT industry, this agreement will affect the ship building and nautical engineering sector as well,” he added.
