The Caretaker of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura today (25) filed a petition at the Supreme Court against the proposed appointment of a new  Caretaker for the position, Ada Derana reporter said.

The petition was filed by Caretaker of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, Bodhiwansa Dharmapriya.

The petitioner argued that there is a move to appoint a new Caretaker for the post who is not from his lineage.

The petition will be taken up for hearing again on 24 March.
