The Sri Lankan government today clarified that only foreign components such as technology and aid will be obtained for the investigation into allegations of human rights abuses.
Foreign aid does not mean the participation of foreign judges, Co-Cabinet Spokesman and Health Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne said, addressing the weekly cabinet press conference.
He added that it will be carried out with the assistance of local judges.
Meanwhile former Foreign Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris says that the President and Prime Minister are making different statements regarding the probe into war crimes.
He stated that the President only spoke about a local mechanism during an interview with the BBC, and that however the Prime Minister has spoken about foreign assistance for the task.
