The Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) is currently recording a statement from Lieutenant Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the second son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, at the Sri Lanka Navy Headquarters.

The Navy Spokesman said that Lieutenant Y.K. Rajapaksa arrived at the Navy HQ today after he was summoned for questioning.

According to sources, a statement is being recorded from Rajapaksa regarding the Carlton Sports Network (CSN), a private company allegedly linked to him.

Earlier today, CSN chairman Rohan Weliwita was taken in for questioning by the FCID.

Weliwita, who is also former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s media coordinating secretary, was questioned regarding alleged financial irregularities at the television channel.

He has previously been summoned by the FCID for questioning regarding issues such as the appointing of the Board of Directors at CSN, tax relief and broadcast rights of live cricket matches.
