Harsha, Eran, Mano praise decision to sing National anthem in Tamil

The Sri Lankan government stuck to its decision to have the national anthem rendered in Tamil too at the official event marking the 68th Independence Day here on Thursday, amid objections from certain sections.


Responding to this, Minister Eran Wickramaratne in a twitter message said “A new journey begins by reinstating the singing of National anthem in Tamil in addition to Sinhala.”


Minister Harsha de Silva in a FB status update said “A first in my lifetime. After many years the independence day celebrations came to a close with the national anthem sung in Tamil.”


Minister Mano Gansesan said “Yes it’s a very small act but that goes long way forward .National anthem in Tamil after decades. Victory 4 our coexistence journey.”
