Two teenage girls have reportedly drowned while bathing in the Kelani river near Wellampitiya a short while ago on Monday, the police said. The residents of the area however have managed to rescue one teenager, it was reported.
The remains of the deceased have been taken to the Colombo National hospital.
The police and the Navy have launched a search operation in the area to locate the missing teenager.
