Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today charged that “only traitors” who oppose providing 1 million jobs to the Sri Lankan youth are obstructing the government’s proposed economic and technology pact with India.
He stated that the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) and certain trade unionists are against the agreement and that government will not allow anyone to sabotage the effort, which he says will create good income sources and 1 million jobs for the youth.
He charged that the GMOA wants to create an issue in the country by preventing job opportunities so that previous leaders could return to power.
“I will tell you one thing. We will take this agreement forward. We have a majority in parliament,” he told reporters in Hambantota, following an inspection tour.
