The Financial Crime Investigation Division (FCID) has recorded a statement from Chief Minister of the Central Province Sarath Ekanayake this morning (22).
Police Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said the statement was recorded over a financial irregularity at the Department of Co-operative Development occurred in 2011.
Chief Minister Ekanayake was questioned for several hours in connection with the case, it was reported.
