International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama and Minister of Law and Order Sagala Ratnayake have left for China on an official visit today.

Sources said that the two Ministers will have discussions with their Chinese counterparts on the ongoing Chinese funded development projects including the Colombo Port City.

The delayed Colombo Port City project, a plan to create a South Asian financial hub, has been given the green light by the government.

The $1.4 billion urban complex project will cover 233 hectares adjoining the Port of Colombo. The deal was signed between the Sri Lankan government and the China Communications Construction Coin in 2013.
