Inspector and Constable among 4 held with illegal firearms

Four individuals including an Inspector of Police and a Constable have been arrested for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in Siriraja Mawatha, Veedagama, Bandaragama.

 

The Inspector is attached to the Police Special Task Force (STF) while the Constable is currently suspended from the force.

 

The suspects were arrested following the intercepting and search of a suspicious car, based on information received by officers of the Panadura unsolved crimes unit.

 

 Police found two firearms and 29 bullets without licenses.

 

The arrested suspects who are residents of Deniyaya, Avissawella, Dambull and Anuradhapura will be produced at the Horana Magistrate’s Court today.
