SLFP central committee to be informed of MPs at Hyde Park rally

March 19, 2016   02:03 pm

SLFP General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake says that the Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will be informed regarding party MPs who participated in the Joint Opposition rally at Hyde Park.

He stated that appropriate action would be taken regarding the MPs in question after the matter is discussed at the central committee meeting.

The Minister of Agriculture stated that the Chairman or Secretary of the party do not take personal decisions in an undemocratic manner.

However, the General Secretary of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Minister Mahinda Amaraweera says that disciplinary action is unnecessary with regard to the SLFP MPs who participated I the rally, organized by the ‘Joint Opposition’.

The reason for this, he cited, was because no views were expressed at the rally criticizing President Maithripala Sirisena.
