Local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing arrested

Sri Lanka Navy has arrested seven local fishermen with three fibre glass dinghies engaged in illegal fishing between Udappuwa and Sinnapadu sea areas. A pair of diving fins and five oxygen tanks were also taken into custody during the arrest.

 

 

 

Meanwhile, ten local fishermen, along with a fibre glass dinghies, engaged in illegal fishing using unauthorized nets in the seas off Norway Island, Trincomalee were also arrested. 

 

 

 

The suspects and belongings were produced to the Assistant Director of Fisheries (Puttalam) and to the Harbour Police in Trincomalee respectively for legal action.
