Another Pakistani drug mule arrested with heroin

A Pakistani national has been arrested after smuggling heroin into the country by concealing the narcotics in his stomach, the second drug mule arrest within 24 hours.

Police said that the 53-year-old suspect was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake.

 He was admitted to the Negombo Hospital and 12 pellets of heroin were extracted from his stomach, the police spokesman’s office said. 

A similar arrest was made yesterday (30), when the Police Narcotics Bureau raided a hotel in Kollupitiya and nabbed a 21-year-old Pakistani youth with a large quantity of heroin. 

PNB officers found 07 pellets of heroin in the possession of the suspect who had also swallowed another 12 pellets of heroin.  

The 21-year-old youth was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital based on information uncovered that he had swallowed several pellets in order to smuggle the drugs into the country.  

Doctors managed to recover the 12 pellets of heroin he had swallowed.
