Another landslide has been reported from the Aranayake area, as short while ago, today (May 21).
Reports say that the landslide had occurred in the Berawila Kanda, the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) said.
The Kegalle district, which includes Aranayake, was struck by two major landslidesfollowing torrential rains.
A landslide had wiped out at least three villages in the central hills of Aranayaka last Tuesday (17).
The first Aranayake landslide is now thought to have killed about 140 people, from which the remains of 19 victims have been recovered to date.
About 220 families are reported missing, the Sri Lankan Red Cross said in a statement on Wednesday.
Rescue operations led by the Sri Lanka Army are still ongoing at the site.
