Former Senior DIG Anura Senanayake, who was arrested for allegedly withholding evidences in the murder of national Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen, has been further remanded until June 23.

 


Senanayake was remanded after being produced before Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris this morning (09).

 


Earlier, former Crime OIC of the Narahenpita police Sumith Perera was also arrested for allegedly hiding evidence in the case. He was too further remanded until June 23. A counsel appearing on behalf of Perera has also apprised the Magistrate that his client is looking forward to give a special statement in connection with the incident.

 


The Colombo Additional Magistrate had earlier instructed the CID to expedite investigations of the rugby player whose body was found inside his car which appeared to have crashed into a wall in Kirulapone on May 17, 2012.
