Minister Anura Yapa today said that Rs. 50,000 per month for three months will be provided to those whose houses are uninhabitable due to the Salawa fire.

The Colombo-Awissawella Main Road was also blocked near the Salawa Army camp by area residents yet again this morning. The protestors were demanding the clearance of debris from their homes prior to opening the road.

However, Sri Lanka Army announced yesterday that it has commenced the renovation of damaged houses, removal of debris of the Kosgama fire, cleaning of the affected water resources and to estimate the damage on civil property. Troops of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES), Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE), Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Navy, Police and Special Task Force (STF) began the reconstruction process.
