Police Sergeant killed in motorcycle-jeep crash

A Sergeant attached to the Welikanda police station in Polonnaruwa was killed after his motorcycle collided with a jeep belonging to the Mahaweli Development Authority in the Yaya-26 area in Attanakadawala on the Giritale-Bakamuna main road.
The 52-year-old resident of Kottapitiya in Bakamuna was admitted to the Attanakadawala Hospital in critical condition following the accident, however he had succumbed to injuries shortly after.
The driver of the jeep has been taken into custody while he is to be produced before the Hingurakgoda Magistrate today.
