UPFA Parliamentarian Bandula Gunawardena today alleged that the government has printed 2.91 million new currency notes due to its poor financial management.
He stated that the rupee has depreciated to unseen levels, inflation has drastically increased last year and therefore the term of the Governor of Sri Lanka’s Central Bank Arjun Mahendran should not be extended.
The former Minister said that the “Joint Opposition” will launch protests from June 24 demanding that the Governor’s term, which ends of June 30, not be extended and that a new Central Bank chief be appointed.
