The cause of fire at the Eppawala phosphate factory is still unknown, Chairman of the Lanka Phosphate Limited Upali Anuradha Dissanayake says.
He also dismissed allegation that a conspiracy is behind the fire in a bid to destroy several documents related to a bribery case.
“If required, copies of all the important documents are also available at the Colombo office,” he added.
The estimated damage due to the fire is above Rs.5 million, Dissanayake said. A section of a building at the Eppawala Phosphate factory premises was destroyed by the fire this morning.
The fire has destroyed the building which housed the supply, accounting and documenting divisions of the factory.
