Sri Lanka Navy escalating frequency: Jayalalithaa

Seeking the Indian Prime Minister’s intervention to secure the release of 77 fishermen from Sri Lankan custody, TN Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa “SL Navy has escalated the frequency and magnitude of incidents of abduction” of Indian fishers from the state.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, J Jayalalithaa said, “The Sri Lankan government continues to infringe upon the historically enjoyed rights of our fishermen to fish in the traditional waters of the Palk Bay.”
“The Sri Lankan Navy has escalated the frequency and magnitude of incidents of abduction of our fishermen and seizure of boats and fishing equipment undeterred in recent days,” she said in the letter released by the state government on Sunday.
