The Excise Department said that all the liquor shops in Kandy and surrounding areas will be closed in view of the Sri Dalada Maligawa Perahera festival from 8 August.
Commissioner General of Excise Department A. Bodaragama said the liquor shops will be closed till August 18.
The liquor shops in Kongalla, Katugasthota, Peradeniya, Aladeniya, Ambathanna, Madawala, Digana and Thalathuoya will be closed.
