Body of 12-yr-old found in lagoon

The body of a 12-year-old boy has been recovered from the Ondachchimadam Lagoon in Kaluwanchikudy.

 The body was discovered following information received by Kaluwanchikudy Police.

It has been reported that the deceased if a resident of the area who was suffering from a mental illness. 

The remains are currently placed at the Kaluwanchikudy Hospital as the postmortem examination is due to be performed today (31). 

Kaluwanchikudy  Police has launched an investigation into the death. 

Meanwhile two persons including a teenage boy have reportedly died in separate drowning incidents.

A 15-year-old from Beduma who had arrived to participate in a sports event at the Galnewa Mahaweli Grounds had drowned while bathing in the Balalu Wewa in Kala Wewa. 

In the other incident a 45-year-old man was bathing in the Ging River near the Omulla Bridge in Neluwa when he drowned.

He was among a group who were returning from a funeral in the area.
