Report on Namal submitted to AG - police

A report on the ongoing investigations in connection with money laundering charges against MP Namal Rajapaksa has been submitted to the Attorney General, the police informed the Fort Magistrate today.


The observation was made when the case was taken up for hearing before Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne.


Namal Rajapaksa was earlier arrested as he arrived at the FCID to give a statement on the financial irregularity on July 11. He was questioned by financial police investigating the $650m high-end project in the capital, Colombo.


Later, he was released on a cash bail of Rs.50,000 and three personal bails of Rs.500,000 each after being produced before the Fort Magistrate on July 18.
